STUFF GOING ON
Keeping you up to date on all things bike and True North.
The worlds been a bit mad recently and its been hard to keep track and keep people updated on the constant changes in the cycling industry.
So, we’ve created a blog page to keep people in the know about everything we think is important or exciting, beit about True North Adventures, or the Hub, or just about bikes/ebikes and bits. Have a scroll and have a read and hopefully there’s something of interest or help.
As always, we are on the end of the phone if you need us.
Mondrakers new headquarters!
Whoever was the concept architect behind this building, we would like to shake your hand, inspired by the structure of a wheel. Mondrakers new headquarters are simply AMAZING!
When this much thought is put into their offices, you can start to understand the ethos of the brand and the quality of their bikes.
Based in Elche, Spain
Mondrakers growth has rapidly increased over the last few years, resulting in the need for the new facility, what they are calling “out of the ordinary”.
Allowing the R&D, engineering and design team to work closely together has created some of the best Mondraker models you’ve seen to date. Leading quickly onto production, where the space has allowed all bikes to be built together, which allows them to massively increase the production figures, which is a huge commitment in any day and age, let alone with the current issues the bike industry faces.
The theory of evolution is an example of the prevailing theory about where people come from. Mondraker have invested in the creation their people and in turn their product, with these facilities. Creating a work environment of teamwork, performance and flow between all departments – just like their bikes!
Offering large indoor and outdoors spaces, its Mondrakers intention to exhibit the different collection of Mondraker products, host sales events and test ride their latest models. Our hands will be firmly up and waving for this.
The wait is over and Yeti have officially entered the ebike market after years in development, introducing the Yeti 160E. Whilst everyone was racing to make an ebike, Yeti were making an ebike to race.
Their strapline ‘it took take, to make time’ comes from the desire of the Yeti brand wanting to keep true to their patented Switch Infinity suspension system. With the position of the motor they’ve had to develop the new Sixfinity suspension platform.
A True Six-Bar Design. Fractions Of A Millimeter Difference In The Linkage Lengths And Pivot Placement Impacts Anti-Squat And Anti-Rise Characteristics. It’s Incredibly Complex. It Took A Half Decade To Refine The System. Unlike Many Other “Six-Bar Designs” Sixfinity Uses All Six Linkages To Control The Wheel Path.
Sixfinity was born to accommodate the added power and mass of an e-MTB. To increase pedaling efficiency given how an e-MTB is actually ridden when ridden hard. And to increase traction for the kind of speed an e-MTB can really deliver, with the right kinematics.
As the suspension progresses through its travel, the Switch link rotates up until it reaches the inflection point. It then “switches” directions and continues to rotate down – creating the unique anti-squat curves shown.
Tunable Leverage Rate.
Every track is different. Every racer has their ride preferences. Sixfinity has an adjustable leverage rate progression that provides a dynamic range of suspension feel. All while preserving geometry, anti-squat and anti-rise characteristics, and only a minute impact to wheel travel at +/-2mm.
25% – 35%
Why did it take so long?
1 NEW SUSPENSION PLATFORM
5 YEARS OF INTENSE DEVELOPMENT
25 CUSTOM MOLDS
Deeper integration. Intuitive control management. One slick looking e-MTB.
6 MULES & PROTOTYPES
It takes time to save time. Validation from our test team and racers was essential to the development process from concept mules, to full carbon prototypes.
